Geef kinderen een veilige plek om te eten en jongeren een kans op een betere toekomst
In Nepal betekent een maaltijd voor veel kinderen meer dan alleen voeding – het is een moment van warmte, veiligheid en rust. Maar deze veilige plek ontbreekt. Kinderen eten buiten, blootgesteld aan extreme temperaturen, variërend van -5 graden in de winter tot 47 graden in de zomer.
Wij willen dit veranderen
Op dit moment zijn wij een schoolkantine aan het realiseren waar straks de kinderen dagelijks in veiligheid en comfort hun maaltijd kunnen nuttigen. Maar de kantine zal méér bieden: na schooltijd wordt deze ruimte getransformeerd tot een opleidingsplek voor werkloze jongeren. Hier leren zij praktische vaardigheden voor beroepen in de horeca, zoals kok en bedieningsmedewerker. Zo krijgen ze de kans om hun toekomst met eigen handen op te bouwen.
Als de kantine gereed is, zal deze ook ‘gevuld’ moeten worden; we hebben nog 1.000.000 Rupees (€ 6.900) nodig voor de essentiële inrichting: een keukenblok met alle bijbehorende apparatuur, keuken- en kookgerei, servies, bestek, tafels en stoelen voor minimaal 250 kinderen, gordijnen, verlichting en ventilatoren.
